Buldhana
Buldhana, located in the Amravati division of Maharashtra, is a district with historical, religious, and ecological importance. The district is best known for Lonar Crater Lake, one of the world’s largest impact craters formed by a meteor.
The Lonar Lake, a UNESCO Geopark, is rich in biodiversity and attracts geologists, photographers, and nature enthusiasts. Surrounded by ancient temples like the Daitya Sudan Temple, it blends science with heritage. Other attractions include Shegaon’s Gajanan Maharaj Temple, a major pilgrimage site, and Rajur Ghat, known for natural views.
Culturally, Buldhana is rooted in spiritual traditions. Bhakti movements and saints like Gajanan Maharaj hold great importance here. Folk arts, rural fairs, and temple festivals add color to the local calendar, especially during Ekadashi and Ganeshotsav.
Tradition is reflected in the district’s lifestyle — with farming communities growing cotton, groundnuts, and jowar. Local artisans craft pottery and wooden toys, keeping old skills alive. Weekly markets still serve as important centers for social and cultural exchange.
Environmentally, Buldhana has hilly regions, rivers, and forest patches. Besides Lonar, Ambabarwa Sanctuary and Dnyanganga Wildlife Sanctuary offer a safe haven for flora and fauna, making the district ideal for eco-tourism.
