Adamapur is 27 km from Bhudargad and 49 km from Kolhapur. Regular ST buses and private vehicles reach the pilgrimage site with ease; the temple offers ample parking, dharmashala, and on-site hospital

The temple is vibrant throughout the year, but prime times are during Balumama Jayanti (October), the anniversary of the saint’s samadhi in September, Gudi Padwa’s Bhandara Mahotsav, and new moon days when crowds gather for Ambil prasad. The October to February season offers the most pleasant climate for spiritual journeys and the site's rural beauty

About the place ...

Saint Balumama was born in 1892 to the Dhangar community and spent his life traversing villages with his sheep, teaching values of devotion, humility, and non-discrimination. His life, marked by compassion and miraculous interventions, turned Adamapur into a revered pilgrimage ground after his mahasamadhi in 1966. Devotees believe Balumama still blesses followers, with his sheep herd at Adamapur now numbering in the lakhs—an enduring symbol of his spiritual lineage

The temple complex, crafted in marble and set within sprawling courtyards, embraces Gurjar and Maratha architectural influences. Visitors enter through the pipal tree platform, where coins are affixed as prayer for fulfillment. The five-tiered conical shrine features intricate carvings, celestial maidens, elephant statues, ornate pillars, and door guardians. Sanctum highlights include Balumama’s marble Samadhi, his seated idol in white dhoti and turban, footprints, and gold-engraved backdrop. Statues of his guru Mule Maharaj and Lord Vitthal-Rukmini deepen the sacred atmosphere, while a shrine for Dattatreya sits beneath the ancient audumbar tree.

A museum displays Balumama’s personal objects, and temple facilities offer modern lodging and a large multi-speciality hospital supporting pilgrims and locals. The Adamapur trust feeds all visitors at the annachhatra, without fee, in keeping with Balumama’s principles.

Worship rhythms include daily aarti (5 AM and 7 PM), Naivedya, and special Ambil prasad on no-moon days. Festival highlights—especially Bhandara Mahotsav—bring lakhs for night-long chanting, palanquin processions, and shepherd dances, culminating in charity and communal meals
