About the place ...

Kadappa Mahadev Temple, dating to the 7th century, is the seat of the Kadsiddheshwar Math, associated with Revannath—an influential Nath and Lingayat saint. The temple’s architecture blends Hemadpanti and North Indian nagara elements: the stone structure rises on a high plinth, approached by five steps guarded by carved elephants. The open verandah’s (owari) five pillars display miniature Nandi and Shivalinga motifs. The mandapa showcases silver-plated seats, platforms for Kadsiddheshwar padukas, and brass-adorned Nandi.

Within the sanctum, a large Shivalinga is clad with a mask; a copper abhishek pot is suspended overhead. The pyramidal stone shikhara is crowned with a metal kalash. Nearby stands a 14th-century Shiva temple, famed for rare Sharabha sculptures—lion-headed mythical creatures battling elephants. Its star-shaped sanctum and pyramid spire echo the main temple’s form.

The Gurudev Dhyana Mandir nearby houses the samadhi of the 48th pontiff, Muppin Kadsiddheshwar Swami, and opens daily aarti and meditation. Daily rituals include kakad aarti, bhajans, agnihotra (fire sacrifice), and Monday palkhi (procession). The temple is widely believed to be a “jagrut devsthan,” renowned for fulfilling vows.

The broader Math complex features the Siddhagiri Gramjeevan Museum, a 30-acre open-air village life exhibit with hundreds of clay dioramas, eco-projects, organic farms, yoga centers, and a Gaushala (cowshed). Siddhagiri Aarogyadham, a hospital and Ayurveda center, continues the Math’s service tradition
