About the place ...
Kadyavarcha Ganpati, meaning “Ganesh on the cliff,” is a revered temple situated in Anjarle village of Dapoli Taluka in Ratnagiri district. Perched atop a hill, this ancient temple offers a panoramic view of the Anjarle Creek, coconut groves, and the Arabian Sea, making it a peaceful spiritual and scenic destination on the Konkan coast.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, known locally as Ujwya Sondecha Ganpati (Ganpati with the trunk on the right side), which is considered more powerful and auspicious. Believed to be over 800 years old, the temple was originally built using wooden architecture and was later reconstructed using stone. The sanctum features a beautiful idol of Ganesha, seated gracefully, drawing thousands of devotees throughout the year.
The main highlight is the location—situated on a small hill, visitors must climb a series of steps to reach the temple. The effort is richly rewarded with mesmerizing views of the Konkan coastline, especially during sunrise and sunset. The serene environment, along with chirping birds and rustling palm leaves, creates a deeply meditative atmosphere.
Magh Ganesh Jayanti is celebrated with great devotion here, featuring rituals, cultural programs, and a local fair. Pilgrims and tourists often combine their visit to this temple with nearby attractions like Anjarle Beach, Kelshi Village, and Suvarnadurg Fort.
