Nanded

Nanded, located on the banks of the Godavari River in eastern Maharashtra, is one of the most spiritually significant districts in India, especially for followers of Sikhism. It is known as the place where Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Sikh Guru, spent his final days.

The main attraction in Nanded is the Hazur Sahib Gurudwara, one of the five Takhts of Sikhism. It draws thousands of pilgrims from across the world. Other attractions include Kandhar Fort, Malegaon Yatra, Sahasrakund Waterfall, and Vishnupuri Dam, which add natural and historical charm.

Tradition remains strong in this district, where agriculture is a major occupation. Sugarcane, cotton, and soybeans are the main crops. Rural communities maintain traditional dress and customs, and local food reflects a mix of spicy Marathwada and southern flavors.

Environmentally, Nanded is rich in rivers and greenery, especially in monsoon. Forest patches and riverbanks offer bird-watching and eco-tourism opportunities. The Isapur Dam backwaters are gaining attention for their peaceful surroundings.
