Karad

Karad Taluka, located in the southern part of Satara district, is one of Maharashtra’s most historically and geographically significant regions. It is famously known as the meeting point of the Krishna and Koyna Rivers, a sacred confluence called Preeti Sangam, which adds both natural beauty and spiritual importance to the area.

The city of Karad, the taluka headquarters, has deep historical roots dating back to the Satavahana period. It played a vital role during the Maratha Empire and later became the home of notable leaders such as Yashwantrao Chavan, the first Chief Minister of Maharashtra.

Tourist attractions include Sajjangad Fort, Karad Fort, Krishna Ghat, and the peaceful Sadashivgad Hill. The Shivaji Garden and Pritisangam Udyan are popular for evening walks and photography.

Karad is also a center of education and industry while maintaining its cultural depth. Festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Gudi Padwa, and Navratri are celebrated with great enthusiasm. Visitors can enjoy scenic drives along the riverbanks, taste local Maharashtrian delicacies, and experience the warmth of Karad’s people.

Its strategic location on National Highway 48 makes Karad a convenient and enriching stop for travelers exploring western Maharashtra
