The Shri Mahalaxmi Temple is approximately 500 to 600 years old. The original structure had walls that were 5 to 6 feet wide, topped with a sloping roof. The idols in the temple were made of black stone. These idols were restored with the help of Dinesh Prabhu, and new idols were installed in the temple in 1998. In 2013, with the assistance of Sudhakar Surve, the temple underwent further restoration, and a new structure was built.

The temple primarily celebrates the Navratri and Shimga festivals with great enthusiasm.

This 600 year old temple is the village deity of Pomendi Khurd (Kajarghati). It is the family deity of the Lakade brothers (Kharvi community) from the villages of Kasarveli, Gawade, Ambere, Garate from Pali, Sawantdesai and Desai families from Hatkhamba, and also for many families from Purnagad in Ratnagiri district
