About the place ...
Shri Kshetra Parshuram, located in Chiplun Taluka, is a sacred pilgrimage site nestled in the Sahyadri hills of Ratnagiri district. Dedicated to Lord Parshuram, the sixth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, this temple is an important religious center for Hindus and a must-visit destination in Konkan. The temple complex is surrounded by dense forests, rolling hills, and the beautiful Vashishti River, making it a blend of spiritual and natural beauty.
The temple is believed to be over 300 years old and was renovated by Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. Lord Parshuram is regarded as the creator of the Konkan region, and devotees believe that visiting this place washes away sins and brings prosperity. The Parshuram Jayanti festival is celebrated here with great devotion, drawing devotees from across Maharashtra and Goa.
The temple architecture features carved stone pillars, wooden roofing, and intricate artwork typical of Konkani temple design. Within the complex, there are other shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Hanuman, and other deities. A sacred tank named Banganga adds a serene charm to the site.
Surrounded by natural trails and peaceful spots, Shri Kshetra Parshuram is ideal not only for spiritual seekers but also for those who enjoy heritage tourism and nature treks. Nearby attractions include the Sawatsada Waterfall, Guhagar Beach, and Chiplun city for local shopping and food.
