Maval (Vadgaon)

Maval Taluka, with Vadgaon as its headquarters, lies in the lap of the Sahyadri ranges and is one of the most picturesque regions of Pune district. This region is historically significant as the training ground of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Mavale soldiers, known for their loyalty and bravery. Today, Maval remains a favorite weekend destination for travelers from Pune and Mumbai.

Maval is blessed with scenic forts like Lohagad, Visapur, Tung, and Tikona, each offering thrilling treks and panoramic valley views. The area around Lonavala and Khandala, part of Maval, is world-famous for its misty monsoon beauty, waterfalls, and viewpoints like Tiger’s Leap, Rajmachi Point, and Bushi Dam.

The region also boasts serene lakes and dams like Pawna Lake and Valvan Dam, ideal for camping, boating, and photography. Maval’s lush greenery and cool climate make it a year-round paradise for nature lovers, trekkers, and adventure seekers.

Traditional Marathi culture thrives in its villages, with vibrant festivals, folk dances, and delicious local cuisine. The taluka’s combination of heritage forts, natural serenity, and adventure tourism makes it one of the jewels of the Sahyadris
