Dashbhuj Ganesh Mandir, located in Hedvi village of Guhagar Taluka, is one of the most spiritually significant and visually striking temples in the Ratnagiri district. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the temple is unique for its rare idol that has ten arms (Dashbhuj) — a form not commonly seen in traditional Ganesha depictions.

According to legend, the idol was installed during the Peshwa era, and the temple was built by the famous Peshwa minister Moropant Trimbak Pingale. The Dashbhuj idol, made from white marble and around 3 feet tall, is said to have been brought from Kashi (Varanasi). Each of the ten arms holds symbolic items, representing power, wisdom, and protection. The temple’s calm and spiritual vibe attracts devotees and architecture lovers alike.

Surrounded by lush greenery, coconut palms, and within close proximity to the Arabian Sea, the temple offers a peaceful environment ideal for meditation and devotion. A significant festival celebrated here is Ganesh Chaturthi, when thousands of devotees from all over Maharashtra gather to seek blessings from Lord Dashbhuj Ganesh.

Just 300 meters away from the temple lies the Uma Maheshwari Temple and the picturesque Hedvi Beach, known for the spectacular natural rock formation called “Bahman Ghal”, where ocean water gushes into a narrow crevice creating dramatic sprays — a visual treat during high tide.
