Durgadevi temple is unbelievably intricate carvings, sea–faced, a pleasant and culturally important temple of Maharashtra. It is the “Kuldaivat” for many brahmin families. The calmness of the sea, and mesmerizing greens around with the sanctity of this place, bring us utmost peace and relaxation. A lake is also found near the temple with a wooden pillar in the middle. The temple is surrounded by small temples of the Sun, Shri Ganesh, Shri Shiva, Shri Vishnu, and Goddess Laxmi.
According to mythological stories, a pearl was fell off from the ornaments of Durgadevi during her fights with one of the enemies. That pearl is said to be in the ornamental collection of Devi Durga and is exhibited in the main hall on special occasions. The temple is crowded with devotees in the Navaratri festival as the devotees come to seek the blessings of goddess Durga. It is a must-visit place for everyone planning a trip to Ratnagiri.
